iPhone blogging....short and sweet

• pr'd at the Portland Half Marathon - 1:58:?? Super happy with that:)
• my sister kicked ass and finished the full in 4:45?? Way to go Alisha
• ran 43 miles last week! Awesome sauce.
• part of that 43 was my long run- 18 miles in 2:55 that's a pace of 9:55. Also very pleased with myself for that:)
• I have 20 to do this Sunday and with a teeny bit of soreness still I hope it goes as good as last Sunday.
• more on the half and pictures when I have a lil extra time.

three things thursdsay

1.  camping last weekend was super fun and super busy!!  both boys had football games that were an hour away from our camp site, jay had to leave us to go hunting, and i had to run the
 great columbia crossing 10k.  not to much relaxing but it was still fun:)

i totally look like i'm dying, but i felt great.  i finished in 55:44 a 8:59 pace.
         i'm to cheap to buy any race pictures, especially god awful ones of me or ones of a bridge that my daughter cries when we have to cross because she's sick of driving to town everyday:(

2.  i went through and organized my running stuff the other day and i realized i have more running clothes than i do regular clothes!! three drawers out of nine are running related.
 one for all my random running crap:
 spi belt ,gu'ssport beansifitness beltbic band, and other goodies. 
 one for shirts like my skinnyrunner shirt, and my 26.2 apparel shirt, along with all my race shirts.
and one for my bottoms, nike tempo shortsrunning skirts, and my fav tights from lululemon.

3.  heading to portland saturday for the portland marathon.

 i'm doing the half:) woo hoo!! good luck to my sister who's running the whole.

motivation

i was looking online at motivational running quotes and came across some
 "you know you're a runner when"quotes.  these are some that fit me.


you know you're a runner when...

~you no longer make fun of fanny packs because your running belt looks very similar (although cooler)
 to one.

~you have more running clothes than regular clothes in your laundry pile.

~you're not embarrassed to wear spandex.

~you're always hungry.

~you smirk when non-runners ask you,  "So how long is this Marathon?"

~you know where exactly one mile from your front door is (in any direction).

~you own more pairs of running sock than dress socks.

~you get jealous when you're driving in your car and you pass a runner.

~a beautiful summer day turns overcast and you're glad because it's much better running weather.

~you call 5 miles a "short run" and people look at you funny.

~you spend the last two miles of a marathon thinking about what you're going to do different when you run it next year.

stickin' to it

the only way finishing Vegas Rock & Roll will be remotely possible is if i really stick to my training plan and get in ALL my long runs.  this has been my plan twice now and both times i have failed miserably.  one long run of 16 or 18 miles is just not going to cut it for trying to finish with a time limit.
so far so good though.  i ran 13 on sunday and it went great~

i signed up for run with jess virtual run today.  i bought a shirt to help her out with her fundraising too:)

i will definitely make sure i get a bonus entry by sending a picture of a yummy cupcake reward when i'm finished!

ya right, i need all the help i can get!  there will be zero time for wardrobe malfunctions!!
i better just stick to the basics.
 maybe add a gold sweaty band or something:)

BOB test run=success

last week i traded in chloe's very used bumbleride stroller for a BOB.  i had a BOB with my son clay and i loved it but when i was pregnant and stroller shopping for chloe i thought i needed something different so i went the bright pink bumbleride.
we definetly have gotten great use out of this stroller.  with all the sporting events this girl has to go to she has spent plenty of time in it.  she literally wakes up in the morning and asks who's game we're going to:) but in the running department it's got nothing on the BOB.  you have to lock the wheel for even a fast walk and then you need two hand just to keep it going straight.
we took the new BOB out this morning for a test run and smooth sailing, love it!! i can run holding it with one hand, it doesn't pull right or left and she was out in like 10 minutes.  doesn't get any better =)



and for more exciting news, as if the stroller wasn't enough:) i found out today i do get to run
i'm only doing the half so i will get to run with my sister, and then be able to cheer her on somewhere during the last 13 miles. awesomeness, thanks andrea:)

10 things tuesday

  1.  training for rock & roll Vegas is going great,
 i'm loving running right now and i think it's because i need it more than ever to keep my sanity!  i thought things would slow down when school started but with the three boys in sports we are always on the go!!

2.  i haven't blogged in over a month and a half.  besides never being home i just didn't think i had anything to blog that anyone would want to read about. this still hasn't changed i just decided to do it anyways:)

3.  my hubby has lost almost 115 lbs and i'm so proud of him!!

4.  the marathon coming up has a 4.5 hour time limit....my best marathon time was 5 hours 7 minutes.  i'm not quite sure how it's gonna go down in sin city!! anyone know what they do with you if you haven't finished???

5.  in a couple weeks my sister is running the portland marathon without me.  i'm both happy and sad about this.  i know while i'm watching i will be wishing i was running but vegas just around the corner and i'm sure i'll be eating those words and would give anything to be holding a sign.


6.  did a little halloween decorating while the weather was crappy...now it's been sunny and 70 the last few days and it just doesn't seem quite right.




7.  clay turned seven last week so my sister and i took him to Great Wolf Lodge with carson and chloe.
it's an indoor water park with fun stuff for all ages.  we went to the park two days and stayed one night.   the kids had a blast and chloe talks about it daily.  i don't know about alisha but i was sure wiped when i got home:)

i haven't downloaded pic's from my camera so this is as good as it gets.
8.  jay took me to yogurtland for the first time on my birthday...i think i've been back like four times and my birthday was only a month ago:) did i mention it's 2 hours away, so not fair!
yes, this is mine and im sure i ate it all:)

9.  gonna take the new trailer again in a couple weeks and camp with some friends at Fort Stevens for the Columbia Crossing. 
 hopefully the weather stays decent.  the bridge run is not so fun with rain and wind, kind of feels like needles hitting your face!


10.  now(2 hours later) i remember why i stopped blogging, i am sooo slow at this.

four days till training starts

i spent the morning going over training plans trying to pick one to start next week.   i think i'm going with the runners world smart coach because it only has 3 days a week of running and i can cross train and rest for the other 4.  i followed this plan for rock & roll seattle but was really bad about getting my long runs in. this is probably why i fell apart and was done at around mile 19-20. 
 i really want to stick to the plan this time since vegas has a 4hour 30 min time limit.  this stresses me out because i need to cut out about 40-45 min to make it!!

hopefully i can speed it up a lil bit to finish in under

so i posted pics from the warior dash but never wrote about what a blast it was.
we decided to all stick together as a group so we could take pictures and watch each other.  it was raining when we were waiting for our heat to start, but totally cleared up when we started.  i don't really see how you could run this for time because at each obstacle there is a pretty long wait.  the big wall climb was what i was most nervous for but it turned out to be a cinch:)


 i was expecting more mud through the whole thing. then we got towards the end and i realized it was all there:) the deep mud was super hard to run in and i was glad i took the advice to tie my shoes really tight!! people were losing them left and right. it's  definitely best to wear minimal tight clothing.  my spandex shorts were sagging by the end.  a drawstring is a MUST!!

lots of bloody knees after swimming through the waist deep mud pit with big boulders on the bottom!
it was soooo fun and i can't wait to do another!!
